"Reality is only as far as you can see".
- The Acacia Strain
Open your eyes to the influences and obstacles that surround you daily. Envision the life that you want, the dream that you aspire to accomplish and pursue; how will you get there? Every day, individuals come face to face with influences and obstacles that all lead back to one principle - choices. I am a college student, Fine Art & Business Administration double major, and an artist who is striving to open the eyes of individuals who are blinded by negativity and corrupt ways of society. When creating my art work, I lean towards painting with acrylics in an abstract sense. I feel that the technique of abstraction fits with the theme of “choice” very well, because choices are not always “straight-forward”. Many times, choices are very difficult and require process and steps. When creating my pieces, I find inspiration from Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Chrissy Angliker, Danny O’Conner (UK), and David Stoupakis. The amount of detail and intricacy presented in each artists individual style is very inspiring and uplifting. Along with the visual detail and modern style, the artwork amazes me in a metaphorical sense. For example, Chuck Close takes photographic portraits and distorts them through texture and color, creating an entirely new metaphorical meaning. An abstract portrait can be interpreted by viewers in many different ways, making the piece very controversial. I strive to use this same exact concept in my pieces. Through doing this, I feel that I have strengthened my skills, allowing me to find meaningful reason behind each piece I create. When creating my pieces, the metaphorical meaning behind each piece is strengthened through the amount of detail and color. The world is in the palm of my hand, and I strive to inspire others to make a difference through exposing them to daily influences and issues.
